What Is A Global Citizen Servant Leader? (Part 1)
The concept of a “Global Citizen Servant Leader” is becoming increasingly intriguing to me. I believe it is something for all of us in people-helping professions to notice and consider. I believe it taps a need for present and future societies.
How many leaders do you know, in any context, who you have enjoyed following?
How many leaders do you know who can balance “effectiveness with people” and “efficiency with things” well enough? These leaders exist, yes, but our lists of such leaders are probably not long.
Our answers here are evidence to why “leadership development” needs to be at the forefront of a vision for those in people-helping professions and training programs, including work with youth.
Leaders teach about their character, motives, and vision by:
- Who and what they choose to defend in private and public
- Their openness to humility beyond their confidence
- Their practices regarding confidentiality and trust building
- These are just a few of the qualities of leaders worth following.
The world needs more global citizen servant leaders!
